Amsterdam, May 3rd 2021. The Real Gym, consisting of two fitness clubs located in Leusden and Bilthoven, has changed ownership as of April 30, 2021. Sjoerd van Rosmalen, director of My Local Gym Group: “We are very happy with the acquisition of The Real Gym. They are local gyms that fit perfectly within our group. We see a lot of potential in the clubs and in the growth of both personal training and individual training options. Members will continue to see the familiar faces in the gyms and the name will remain the same for now. In the coming period we will invest in new equipment, which fits within the vision of My Local Gym Group. ”
Marjolijn Meijer, CEO of the Urban Gym Group (UGG), founded My Local Gym Group at the beginning of this year together with Jordy Kool, co-CEO of the UGG and founder/owner of Iron Assset Management. Meijer: “With Urban Gym Group we are active in the major cities and offer state of the art fitness clubs. Locally, we see a growing need for the gym facilities that our labels offer, such as Trainmore. But the smaller cities and municipalities also have their own health and fitness requirements. Where one gym, for example, specializes in the elderly, the other studio offers more options for physiotherapy or personal training. To respond to this, a different strategy is needed than the UGG has, and so Jordy and I founded My Local Gym Group. ”
Van Rosmalen: “We previously acquired Bodysports in Utrecht. We are speaking to several parties and will continue to do so. For now, acquired fitness clubs will continue to operate locally under their own name. Of course we create synergy benefits behind the scenes in the areas of finance, HR, legal and back office. We also support the clubs with our many years of knowledge and experience in this industry. ”

Wij zien veel potentie in de clubs en in de groei van zowel personal training als de individuele trainingsmogelijkheden. Members blijven in de gyms de vertrouwde gezichten zien en ook de naam blijft voorlopig hetzelfde. We zullen de komende periode investeren in nieuwe appratuur, wat past binnen de visie van My Local Gym Group.”

Zo specialiseert de ene gym zich op de ouderen, en biedt de andere studio juist meer mogelijkheden voor fysiotherapie of personal training. Om hierop in te spelen is een andere strategie nodig dan de UGG heeft, en dus richtten Jordy en ik My Local Gym Group op.”
Van Rosmalen: “Eerder acquireerden wij al Bodysports in Utrecht. We zijn in gesprek met meerdere partijen en blijven dat voorlopig ook doen. Overgenomen fitnessclubs blijven lokaal voorlopig onder de eigen naam opereren. Uiteraard creëren we achter de schermen synergievoordelen op het gebied van finance, HR, legal en backoffice. Verder ondersteunen wij de clubs met onze jarenlange kennis en ervaring in deze industrie.”
